I never thought I would be laughed at when asking for an iced coffee. Afterwards, I was convinced there was no such thing as iced coffee in Dublin.

A quick google search and a few experiences later with iced coffee in my hand, I found that it did exist, but was not nearly as common as in the United States.

The cafe in The National Gallery of Ireland was a lively and open space that caught the eye of my jet-lagged friends and I. The brick wall with arched windows jutting out from the side wall made it feel as if we were outside someone’s downtown home.

After a quick coffee break, we were ready to absorb the gallery’s stunning maze of brightly colored walls, landscapes, sculptures, stained glass, portraits, historic religious paintings, tall ceilings, wide columns, and chandeliers.

The coffee was just what I needed to enjoy this stunning gallery (and a local art show behind the museum that we stumbled upon, seen below).
